SHOW CAVES
Of the many caves in the Yorkshire Dales, three of them are show caves. These national show caves are open to the public to explore, a cave guide is on hand in Ingleborough Cave and White Scar Cave.
Caving in the Yorkshire Dales has always being popular, and a few former showcaves can still be visited.
For the more intrepid, joining a dales caving club will enable you to discover more of the extensive network of dales caves.

Ingleborough Cave was once the outflow for the streams that flow through the famous Gaping Gill cave system, it has long been abandoned by the main stream, allowing it to be explored safely by visitors.

Beneath Ingleborough, one of the famous Yorkshire 3 peaks lays White Scar Cave, the longest showcave in Britain. The guided underground tour includes the Battlefield Cavern.

Tom Taylors Cave and How Stean Tunnel can be explored when visiting the limestone gorge at How Stean in Nidderdale, torch hire available.
Yordas Cave
A former show cave, the entrance to Yordas cave consists of a stone archway where steps lead directly to the great hall.
The main chamber has a stream running through it and is approximately 50m wide, 15m deep and 15m high, with stalactite formations. A smaller chamber called the Chapter House that contains a superb waterfall.
Boots and a good torch are necessary to visit this cave, which can be found hidden in a small plantation just of the west side of the Thornton to Dent road in Kingsdale, north of Ingleton.
