Reeth in Swaledale

Reeth is located at the junction of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale its houses and cottages enclose the extensive village greens from which there are excellent views of the surrounding countryside in all directions.

The population of Reeth was once much larger than today due to its importance as a centre for lead mining in the Swaledale area. Today Reeth is a hill farming community as well as a popular tourist centre. Guesthouses and hotels alongside shops and cafes provide for visitors throughout the year.

Reeth show is a major event in the dale and takes place in late August every year, as do many other interesting events.

A weekly market day in Reeth takes place on fridays.
