The National Trust in England is a charitable body, founded in 1895 to protect the environment and Historic Past so that it may be enjoyed for Generations to come. Independent of Government funding, the trust relies on the support of its members for financial support.

Along with those found in the Yorkshire Dales, The National Trust owns over half a million acres of Countryside with together with 600 miles of Coastland, and protects over 200 Historic Houses & Gardens along with a growing number of Industrial Monuments.
