Location: Pennine Region: North Yorkshire Dales
River: Cotterdale Beck
The name Cotterdale refers to both the dale and the small hamlet that consists of a hand full of farms and cottages 4 miles from the Market Town of Hawes in Wensleydale. There are none of the usual amenities here having no shop, pub, telephone box and no streetlights.
There is a small Methodist chapel that has been converted to a private house. The nearby Cotter Force flows down a series of limestone ledges on its way to join the river Ure.
