Bainbridge in Wensleydale, Yorkshire Dales

The Wensleydale village of Bainbridge is on the banks of the River Bain. The river is less than three miles long from Lake Semerwater to the River Ure and is England's shortest river.

Originally Bainbridge was the Roman settlement of Virosidum situated on the road to the West Yorkshire town of Ilkley. Today Bainbridge has a wide-open green surrounded by an assortment of Dales cottages.
